Big Drop In Gold Prices, May 1: 24K/100 Grams Gold Cheaper By Rs 21,800

Gold price today witnessed huge decline in India to touch its lowest level in 2-weeks on International Labour Day 2025 as dollar gained strength and trade tensions eased. 24k gold price today plunged by Rs 2,180 to Rs 95,730/10 grams and 24k/100 grams gold rate fell by Rs 21,800 to Rs 9,57,300. Meanwhile, 22k gold rate today eased by Rs 2,000 to Rs 87,750/10 grams and 22k/100 grams precious metal rates dived by Rs 20,000 to settle at Rs 8,77,500 on May Day.

Meanwhile, 18k gold rate today slipped by Rs 1640 to Rs 71,800/10 grams on Thursday and 18k/100 grams gold price today came down to Rs 7,18,000 after fall of Rs 16,400. On the other hand, 24k per gram gold rate stood at Rs 9,573 as prices edged lower by Rs 218, 22k per gram yellow metal rates plunged by Rs 200 to Rs 8,775, and 18k per gram gold rate fell by Rs 164 to Rs 7,180.

Spot Gold Price Today

Spot gold came down by 1.6% at $3,235.55 an ounce as of 0629 GMT, after touching its lowest level since mid-April. Spot silver eased by 1.5% to $32.10 an ounce, platinum fell 1% to $957.33 and palladium zoomed 0.2% to $939.74, according to Reuters.

Why Gold Prices Declined Today?

The Reuters report added, “Gold retraced as trade war concerns eased, but market confidence remains shaky with investors reacting to headlines daily,” said Ilya Spivak, head of global macro at Tastylive. “The Federal Reserve’s dovish policy outlook could support gold, but it may need to unwind more of the April panic first,” Spivak stated.

Earlier in April, gold prices touched several new peaks and hit highest level on April 22, 2025 when prices crossed Rs 1,00,000 mark. On April 22, 2025 24K/10 grams gold rate hit new high of Rs 1,01,350/10 grams.

22k/10 grams gold prices were retailing at Rs 85,100 on April 1, 2025 with prices rising to Rs 89,750/10 grams on April 30, 2025. It indicates a surge of 5.46% in gold prices in April month.

22k per gram gold price today plunged steeply by Rs 200, fell by Rs 5 on April 30, rallied by Rs 40 on April 29, declined by Rs 62 on April 28, and remained flat on April 27.

Silver prices today in India witnessed steep fall. 1 kg silver prices on May 1, 2025 slipped by Rs 2000 to Rs 98,000. Meanwhile, 100 grams silver rates fell by Rs 200 to Rs 9,800 on Thursday.
