Aadhaar Card has emerged a crucial and highly trustworthy evidence for identity proof and address verification. The indispensable document is needed for obtaining a driving license (DL), passport, bank account, filing income tax, etc. Probably, this is the reason why Indian Government launched Aadhaar cards for children below age five years as well, popularly called as Baal Aadhaar card. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues Baal Aadhaar Card and links it to the Aadhaar Card of one of the parents. In Baal Aadhaar card, there is no requirement of child’s biometric data as in the case of regular Aadhaar Cards.

Baal Aadhaar cards includes other key details such as name, gender, date of birth (DoB) of child, photograph, and Aadhaar number of legal guardian or parent. It is issued in blue color and that is why it is also known as Blue Aadhaar Card. You can get the card issued for children between 5 years to 15 years. Meanwhile, now hospitals all across India have also begun to get newborns enrolled for Aadhaar and offer Aadhaar acknowledgement slips along with the birth certificates of the newborns.

As no biometrics are needed for children below 5-years, their UID will be processed on the basis of demographic details, facial images linked with their parents’ UID. However, these children will have to update their biometrics of iris, facial images, and ten fingers once they turn 5-years old.

How To Apply For Baal Aadhaar Card Online?

Visit official website of UIDAI (https://uidai.gov.in/)
Choose the language
Click on the tab “My Aadhaar” and choose the option “Book an Appointment”
Choose “Book an Appointment at UIDAI-Run Aadhaar Seva Kendra”, select City from the list and click “Proceed To Book An Appointment” option
Enter your mobile number along with the captcha code and click “Get OTP” option
Enter OTP
Choose date for appointment
Visit Aadhaar centre on the chosen appointment date
The biometrics and Aadhaar card details of the parents need to submitted whose details are linked to the Baal Aadhaar card
Deposit all key documents required along with application form at the centre
You will receive the card through post at the given address. You will also be able to download it online via the UIDAI website

Quick Steps To Apply For A Baal Aadhaar Card Offline

Go to nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. You may also check the nearest enrolment centre at the official UIDAI website
Fill Baal Aadhaar application form at the centre
One of the parents whose Aadhaar card has been linked to Baal Aadhaar card must visit the centre to submit iris scans and biometrics
Deposit the necessary documents along with application form
You will get an acknowledgement slip along with registration ID
You can track the card status with the help of the acknowledgement slip
You will receive the card to your registered address in 60 to 90 days after registration process
