Check Your Aadhaar-PAN Link Status Online: Quick And Easy Steps!

Check Your Aadhaar-PAN Link Status Online: Quick and Easy Steps!

One of the most important documents for doing any financial transaction is a PAN card in India. Providing a valid PAN is required whether you are establishing a bank account or purchasing mutual fund units. The Aadhaar Card is another document introduced by the government of India, used to verify a person’s identification. In order to improve oversight and financial security, the Indian government has mandated that all Indian people connect their PAN and Aadhaar cards.

The government has set a deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking, and in order to avoid penalties, people must link their PAN and Aadhaar by that date. However, the deadline has already passed. To check the linking status, it is important to understand where you can check it.

Last Update

The Aadhaar card and PAN card’s last linking date was on June 30, 2023. If the Aadhaar-PAN linking is not done before the deadline, your PAN will become inoperative from July 1, 2023. However, by paying a Rs 1,000 penalty, you may still link your PAN card with your Aadhaar card.

The Indian government and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) have reminded taxpayers who have not already done so to link their PAN card and Aadhaar card by May 31, 2024.

Additionally, the reminder notes that failure to complete the PAN-Aadhaar connection by May 31, 2024, will result in a higher rate of tax deduction/collection (TDS/TCS) under Sections 206AA and 206CC of the Income Tax Act, 1961. This is as a result of transactions made before March 31, 2024, utilising an invalid PAN.
